TIME FOR A MORE ACTIVE VACATION?

One of the very best things about going on vacation is that it gives you the chance to relax and recharge your batteries. The modern world can be a pretty exhausting place and there’s absolutely nothing wrong with needing to get away from it all every now and then. However, there seems to be this attitude that there’s only ever one way to relax on vacation. We’re all expected to want to put our feet up and chill by the pool or the beach sipping cocktails and doing absolutely nothing. And, let’s be honest, that does sound pretty wonderful. But the truth is that’s not every bodies cup of tea. Perhaps you’ve been on that kind of trip so many times that you’re looking for something different, or maybe you’re just the kind of person who needs to stay active in order to enjoy yourself. Either way, the solution might be to try a vacation that gets your pulse pounding. Here are just a few suggestions for potential vacations that are just a little more active.

SKIING

There are few vacations better for giving you the chance to become a little more active than a skiing holiday. It’s the kind of thing that so few of us would ever get the chance to do at home and that means that it’s always going to have that extra little thrill. Whether you’re an absolute beginner who wants to try their hand on the slopes for the first time or an experienced pro who’s constantly looking for a fresh challenge, there are so many different slopes and resorts out there that you’re sure to find something that’s perfect for your level. Of course, this is the kind of vacation where you’re probably going to need at least some kind of gear. You’ll need the right clothes, skis (obviously), and you’ll probably want to take out some skiing travel insurance. Otherwise, if something does happen on the slopes, it could end up ruining your entire trip.

SURFING

A trip to the beach is the perfect kind of relaxing vacation for a lot of people. However, a lot of the time people tend to forget just how much fun the sea can be. Sure, sunbathing and occasionally dipping your toe into the ocean an be fun, but there’s nothing like really throwing yourself into the churn of the waves! A lot of people tend to assume that surfing is the kind of thing that only people who have practiced for years could possible do. They see professional surfers doing some truly incredible things on huge waves and they assume that they could never manage to do it. Of course, if you’re just starting out then you’re never going to be able to surf like the pros, but the truth is that surfing is actually a lot more accessible than you might think. They might not look at cool but much longer boards make catching waves and staying upright incredibly easy. Sure, you’re almost certainly going to end up falling off your board a lot, but the worst that happens is that you take a nice refreshing dunk in the ocean! Not only is a surfing trip going to get your pulse pounding but you’ll probably end up laughing harder and longer than any other trip you’ve ever taken.

MOUNTAIN CLIMBING

If you’re after something a little more slow paced but still active and exciting, mountain climbing might well be the perfect choice for you. With nothing more than a good pair of walking boots and your own two feet, you could end up being able to witness some of the most breathtaking landscapes that the world around you has to offer. There are mountains all over the world with beautiful and diverse landscapes that you could well find yourself marvelling over for hours. And if you’re really interested in doing something a little more exciting then there’s always the chance to try for some of the big ones. Serious mountain climbs are totally different to the more accessible ones. There is a huge amount of planning involved and it can be one of the most challenging things you ever do. However, once you reach the summit, the feeling of achievement and elation is one that few other things in the world could ever possible compete with.

A CYCLING HOLIDAY

One of the problems that a lot of people have with vacations is that they end up feel stuck in one place for too long. After all, you’re taking a trip to get away from it all, so the last thing you want is to end up needing a vacation from your vacation. That’s where something like a cycling holiday comes in. Rather than taking a road trip, you can hop on your bike and go from place to place. The wonderful thing about this kind of vacation is that you not only get to choose where and when you go, but you get to do it at your own pace while also staying as active as possible. There are plenty of sights that you would only ever see on this kind of vacation. If you spend the entire time indoors or inside your car, there are little details about the landscape and the world around you that you’re almost certainly going to miss. Getting out on the road with the wind in your hair is one of the best ways to really appreciate any place that you’re visiting.

Of course, there’s no reason why you have to take any of these kinds of vacations. This list is certainly not trying to imply that there’s anything wrong with a vacation where you get the chance to sit around and relax non-stop. After all, sometimes there’s nothing better than doing absolutely nothing for a while. However, if you get stuck in the same kind of vacation over and over again, it’s going to end up losing a lot of its charm. The key is to make sure that you’re trying new things whenever you get the chance. After all, variety really is the spice of life!
