We are part way through December and this means that the majority of us are turning our minds to making our homes as festive as possible. We want to engage with the festivities and ensure that everything looks merry and bright! But certain tasks can prove to be easier said than done and you can’t make your home a festive wonderland at the click of your fingers. You’re going to have to put some hard work and effort in to make everything look as you want it to! So, here are just a few steps that you can take to ensure that your halls are decked to perfection in time for the big day.
Conduct a Clean Up
Before you even think about reaching for the decorations, you need to conduct a thorough deep clean of your home. This will ensure that you have a clean, clear, and fresh slate to start out with. Clear away any mess and ensure that everything is in its rightful place. Then, once your space is clear, pick up some high quality cleaning supplies and equipment that will allow you to tick the following chores off your list:
- Cleaning the Windows
- Sweeping and Mopping Hard Floors
- Vacuuming and Cleaning Carpets
- Dusting and Wiping Down Surfaces
Choosing the Right Tree
Be sensible when choosing a tree. Many people opt for the biggest option on offer, only to find that it doesn’t fit in their home all too well. Find something that will easily get through the front door, that won’t scrape the ceiling, and which won’t take up too much room in your living space. Sometimes great things really can come in smaller packages.
Be Careful With Pins
People tend to get a little reckless with pinning decorations to the ceilings and walls around this time of year. But be mindful when using pins. Do you really want to have to fill pinholes and repaint your ceilings and walls for the sake of a few decorations? Instead, consider whether blu tac can be used. Opt for a brand that doesn’t mark walls with grease for minimal evidence of decorations once they have been taken down.
Rather than making more permanent alterations to your property, here are a few festive accessories that you can invest in and bring out year after year for Christmas. Consider festive cushion covers, table cloths, ornaments, and maybe even candles. These can be stored away through the rest of the year, but will add an extra special touch to your home and help your property to stand out from the crowd.
These are just a few different steps that you can take to strike the right balance with your festive decorations and design! Bear them in mind while decking the halls this year!
