Home, Savage, Home: What To Do When Things Go Wrong In Your Property

Our homes are more than just buildings; they are our castles, our sanctuaries, our retreats, and our bolt-holes. They are the thin line between us and the rest of the big, dangerous world out there, so what happens when your home turns against you, and things start going wrong? Well, it can be hard going, but you will be pleased to know that there are some things you can do about it. Read on to find out what they are.

Clutter chaos

If you have to pick your way from room to room carefully, finding a space for your foot to go, you probably have a clutter problem, or a kid with Legos, or maybe even both? Although, things don’t need to look like an episode of Hoarders waiting to happen to justify a good decluttering and organising session.

Of course, the benefits of this type of activity are apparent, as not only do you get a more spacious and safe home, but you can also sell or donate items that you no longer want. An act that can make this activity make you feel doubly good.

When you are decluttering, start from the floor and work upwards in each room for the best results. Also, time yourself and declutter in short bursts, otherwise you can spend hours and hours on a small space and not make enough headway.

Also, try and be as ruthless as possible, you don’t have to go full minimalist or Konmari, but if you haven’t used it in the last six months, it’s probably time to say goodbye.

Noisy pipes

You don’t have to live in a haunted old mansion to be annoyed and creeped out by noisy rattles and bangs coming from your waterworks. Sadly, such issues are rarely ever a good sign. In fact, they can mean that your system has too much air in it, or that the pipes are not correctly secured, making them a dangerous hazard, especially if they are carrying hot water.

Luckily, such problems are usually easily solved by contacting a plumbing professional who is well versed in the causes of noisy water pipes and can offer you some practical solutions. An option well worth considering if you want to avoid a nasty leak further down the line.

Nasty pests

How do you feel about sharing your home with uninvited visitors? Ones that are riddled with infectious disease or are known to aggravate allergies? Not too keen, I’d wager, and it’s not surprising, yet many homes are a haven for rats, mice, maggots, woodworm, wasps, and cockroaches.

Of course, how you can rid yourself of these pesky little pests varied depending on the pest themselves, as well as whether you want to use chemicals or would prefer to go down the natural route. Although, it is worth bearing in mind that for fast and effective pest removal the chemical option is often best.

One thing is clear, however, and it is that when you home turns savage and there are serious problems, getting them identified and resolved as quickly as possible is vital!
